Installing Octave on Mac (Snow Leopard)
The Octave binary needs a few things in order to run successfully, most of which you should already have on your OS if you have installed XCode.
- Octave.app and Gnuplot.app (bundled)
- Aquaterm (bundled with Gnuplot)
- X11 (already installed with XCode or available from XQuartz)
On to installation
- “Install” Octave.app and Gnuplot.app by dragging them into the Applications folder. Gnuplot should be located in the extras folder of the mounted Octave dmg file.
- You *may* need to make gnuplot visible in your PATH like so:
